PSIA Adaptive Level 1 Registration Form 2022 |
Outdoors for All is encouraging volunteer instructors to pursue their PSIA Adaptive Level 1 certification this winter. We will be offering some clinics on Wednesday evening at the Summit at Snoqualmie to help volunteers prepare for this. The training will be open to 8 participants.
Applications will close November 22nd.

For exam purposes, PSIA-NW divides disability diagnosis into three (3) specialty categories, or “modules”. For the Level I Adaptive Alpine exam, the candidate must pass one of the three modules at Level I to achieve the Level I certification. The module categories for Level I Adaptive Alpine exams are:
· VI/Cog – Vision-related diagnoses and intellectual/cognitive-related diagnoses.
Candidates are expected to teach stand-up skiers through the Beginner/Novice Zone. Candidates are expected to tether a stand-up skier using tethers attached to the ski tips through the Beginner/Novice Zone. Candidates will be tested on guiding a visually impaired student on green or easy blue trails.
· Mono/Bi – Sit down skiers
Candidates are expected to teach mono-ski and bi-ski students (fixed and handheld outriggers) through the Beginner/Novice Zone. Candidates are expected to tether a bi-ski with fixed outriggers on groomed green terrain. Candidates are not expected to ski independently, or to independently load the chairlift, in any of the sit down equipment.
· Three-Track/Four-Track/Slider – Three-track, four-track and Slider skiers
This year Outdoors for All is hoping to help volunteer pursue either the VI/Cog or Mono/Bi exam.

EXAM CHECKLIST: This below checklist is to help you navigate and track towards the exam process through clinics and teaching with Outdoors for All. Please ensure that you have adequate time to complete these steps taking into consideration your timeline and exam date.

PREREQUISITE:
Must have your Alpine Level 1 certification before attending the Adaptive Level 1 exam
ATTEND IN-SEASON TRAININGS
TRAINING DATES: Wednesday evenings at the Summit from 7-9pm.
EXAM DATE: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM (Date TBD but most likely on a weekend in March at the Summit at Snoqualmie)
PASS THE ONLINE WRITTEN EXAM: $10.00

After registration, you will receive a link to take your online written exam. You must successfully complete (75% or higher) the online written exam one month (30 days) prior to taking any on snow module
DEVELOPMENT LOG:
Candidates for Level I Adaptive Alpine must complete a Development Log (found on the adaptive certification page) prior to the on snow exam.
