INTRODUCTION

Background
Gender equality is a priority issue for the Tasmanian Government.

The new Tasmanian Women’s Strategy will be released at the end of 2021, building on the achievements of the current Tasmanian Women’s Strategy 2018-2021.

We know there is more work to do to achieve genuine, long lasting culture change and this will be a key priority in the Tasmanian Women's Strategy.

The new Tasmanian Women’s Strategy will address the inequality experienced by women and girls in Tasmania.

It will focus on three Outcome Areas for action:
1. Economic security, including women's leadership
2. Health and wellbeing
3. Safety

These Outcome Areas align with gender equality work and initiatives being progressed by the Australian Human Rights Commission, the United Nations, and all levels of government in Australia. In developing the new Tasmanian Women's Strategy 2022-25, we will draw on lessons learnt from successful initiatives in other jurisdictions and be informed by new research and evidence.

Consultation
To ensure our approach to gender quality is ‘on track’ and relevant, we want to hear from you!

This survey was first conducted in 2017 to inform the development of the 2018-2021 Tasmanian Women's Strategy. We are running it again with some new questions, including questions about women's experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. Your responses will help the Tasmanian Government understand women's experience of economic security, safety, and health & wellbeing over time.
