The National Recycling Coalition (NRC) is planning to organize a National Zero Waste Conference for Zero Waste communities and Zero Waste businesses in the spring of 2020. This will build on the success of National Zero Waste Business Conferences organized by the U.S. Zero Waste Business Council, National Zero Waste Conferences organized by the GrassRoots Recycling Network (now dba as Zero Waste USA) and International Dialogs organized by the Zero Waste International Alliance. This conference is not intended to replace the Resource Recycling Conference.

Over the past 5 years, there has been dramatic growth in Zero Waste activities in the U.S., including the adoption of Zero Waste as a goal by Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, San Diego, and Washington, DC.  Other major cities that previously adopted a Zero Waste goal include Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland, Austin, and Seattle.  Several states have organized sessions and trainings on Zero Waste, often together with state Recycling Organizations (ROs), including in California, Illinois, Arkansas, Texas, Colorado, Missouri, Virginia, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts. There is a need to provide the latest information about successes of Zero Waste communities and businesses to the thousands of people who have begun to pursue Zero Waste or to get certified as a Zero Waste facility.

In October 2018, NRC was asked if it would consider organizing a National Zero Waste Conference to meet this need.  In December 2018, the NRC Board agreed to organize a National Zero Waste Conference in the spring of 2020.  NRC is now exploring where to convene such a Conference, and how to do it.

To that end, we would like to get your input on the following questions.
