Starting in May 2023, trash cans are available at Foothill Regional Park's two main trailheads only, instead of dispersed throughout the backcountry. Please come prepared to pack any trash out with you.

Backcountry trash cans at Foothill are being removed to:
  • Improve park visitor experience by decreasing the number of staff vehicles driving on trails
  • Reduce the department’s carbon footprint and plastic use (less trash bags)
  • Keep wildlife healthy and safe by limiting trash disposal to secure cans at trailheads
