PSA Parliament Week potential participants 2015 |
Parliament Week is a programme of events and activities that connect people across the UK with Parliament and democracy. This year’s events run between 16 November to 22 November 2015. Find out more about Parliament Week here.
As part of Parliament Week, the Political Studies Association and the Specialist Group on Parliaments and Legislatures are organising a series of workshops to bring people together to talk about Parliament through individualised workshops and a main event.
Workshops
We want to encourage people to lead a workshop about Parliament aimed at non-traditional audiences (for resources see below). Each workshop would be divided into two parts: one identifying what Parliament does; the second reflecting on what it should do better in the future. Each of these workshops can be led by anyone, as long as they have a good understanding of what Parliament does. Target audiences can include: sixth-form pupils, a community group, young people, the elderly, non-politics university students, et cetera. Last year, we had 15 of these (for details, click here)!

In order to support these workshops, we have produced a a Resource Pack. This contains support, ideas and guidelines to undertake a successful workshop.

Workshops can be held at any time between 7 September and 22 November 2015. If you are interested in running a workshop, please click through to the next page to register your workshop.
Once individual workshops have been organised, we will post their details on the PSA website.
Main event
In addition to individual workshops, we will also run a main event (which will follow the same principles and structure as the individual workshops). This will take place on Monday, 16 November between 1pm and 4pm at the People’s History Museum in Manchester. This main event will be organised jointly with the PSA and there are more details, including registration for the event, if you click here.
