Technical/Hands-On Training Workshops are considered: instruction where participants physically work with the actual equipment, tools, or systems they’re learning about, rather than only watching a demonstration or reading about it. The core idea is learning by doing: trainees perform the real tasks — operating, troubleshooting, assembling, calibrating, or repairing equipment — under guidance, so they build procedural skill and muscle memory, not just conceptual knowledge.
Key Characteristics Usually Include:
- Direct physical interaction with real or realistic equipment (not just slides or simulations, though simulators can supplement it).
- Guided practice — an instructor or technician demonstrates a process, then trainees replicate it themselves.
- Immediate feedback — mistakes are corrected in real time, often on actual hardware.
- Competency-based outcomes — success is measured by whether the trainee can actually perform the task (e.g., disassemble/reassemble a device, run a diagnostic, complete a repair procedure), not just pass a written test.
- Small-group or one-on-one format, since it requires physical access to limited equipment and close supervision.
AAMI will provide:
- Basic AV set-up to include (1) LCD projector, (1) screen, microphones if required based on audience size.
- Classroom set-up for seating.
- Basic internet and power.
- List of attendees who participated.
- Anything additional maybe at a cost to the vendor.
- Refreshments are not provided and would be at a cost to the vendor.
Vendors will provide:
- Any equipment to/from the meeting room at your cost.
- Certificate of Attendance/CEU's.
- Handouts/materials.
