Breakout sessions take place on Friday and Saturday, lasting one hour each. We are not able to offer an honorarium or cover expenses for any presenters. Participants attending appreciate clear topic descriptions of what your session will look like.  If selected, your presentation must coincide with the description provided in your proposal.
 
Commercial solicitation is prohibited at all presentations. If you are representing a commercial interest, your presentation must be educational in nature. If the essential purpose of a proposal is to promote books, materials, or services for sale, it will not be accepted.

All presenters who plan on staying for other sessions must register for the conference.  A discounted registration price-type will be available to all presenters. The cost for presenters to attend the full conference is $125 per presenter. 

All proposals are due by Friday, November 17, 2023.  Email access is required as you will be notified by an email message in late December if your proposal was selected.

Presenter Roles & Responsibilities

All presenters will:
  • Confirm commitment to present within 1 week of notification of selection.
  • Register for the conference if attending other sessions.
  • Refrain from changing the title/content of the session after the proposal has been accepted.
  • Provide a PowerPoint or Google Slides presentation after the proposal has been accepted.  All selected presenters are required to email their presentation handouts in PowerPoint or Google Slides format to alefevre@autismgreaterwi.org by April 12, 2024.  The handouts will be converted to PDF handouts and placed on a central website for conference attendees to print on their own.  
  • Adhere to Universal Design Guidelines.
  • Use respectful language while presenting. We ask that all presenters:
    • Please use Neurodiverse affirming verbiage. Avoiding functioning labels (high, low, mild, severe, etc), and instead discuss relevant supports or services for targeted needs of individuals. 
    • Refrain from using the r-word in any context.
    • Please avoid possible triggering terminology. Including but not limited to mentions of; restraint, seclusion, self-harm, or other types of abuses. If these topics are part of your presentation please list them in your submission.

* 10. Life Stages: The Autism Society supports autistic individuals and their families through five critical life stages. Choose the most appropriate age range for your session.

Audio Visual Information

The Autism Society will provide a projector, screen and microphone. 


Presenters must provide their own laptop and any other equipment they may need. 

Sound is available upon request. 

MAC users must bring the appropriate adapter cables to hook up to the projector.  We recommend using a non-MAC laptop if possible.  The Autism Society cannot guarantee the venue will have additional cords available for use.

* 15. ASGW is exploring ways to make the conference more accessible by having select presentations available both in-person and virtually. If your proposal is selected, would you be willing to pre-record your presentation (on your own, using Zoom) in addition to presenting in-person? All recordings will be due to ASGW in early April.
