Basic requirements for this bursary:

- Learners in Grade 7 to Grade 12
- Academic performance >65% aggregate
- In need of financial support to access quality educational opportunities, gross combined income per  
household per month should not exceed R 25 000
- Must be a South African citizen
- Speaks and understands basic English
- Embraces a strong value system and a sense of responsibility
- Participates in extra-curricular activities (school-related activities)
- Demonstrate leadership qualities
- Actively involved in community service

This online application will take approximately 40 - 45  minutes to complete. Make sure that you have the following documentation available to upload together with this application:

  • A copy of your Identity document - if younger than 16 years of age, you must submit a certified copy of your birth certificate;
  •  A copy of your 2 (two) latest academic transcripts or exam results (December 2019 & March 2020, if you do not have a March 2020 report you will need to submit an official letter from school stating the reason why it is not available);
  •  A copy of your parents/legal guardians Identity documents (If either parent is deceased, a certified copy of the death certificate needs to be submitted.); 
  • A copy of official payslip of each of your parents/ legal guardians;
  • If your parents or the person who supports you or your legal guardian is retired, please provide a certified copy of an official pension slip or bank statement showing pension payment;
  • A copy of a SASSA letter if any of your family members are receiving a social grant and are also contributing to your household income;
  • If you have been exempted or receive a discount from paying tuition fees, please provide a letter from the institution;
  • A letter of confirmation of your good conduct from your academic institution (i.e. principal, teacher, residence head, or lecturer) as well as confirming the quintile of the school.

How we use your information:
Your information will be confidential and will only be processed if you consented thereto; it is necessary to conclude or perform in terms of a contract with you; the law requires it or your, our or third parties lawful interest is being protected or pursued.

MAD Leadership Foundation may process your information. Information includes, amongst others, information regarding national origin, age, language, birth, education, financial information, id number, email address, physical address, telephone number, psychometric assessments and your name.

The processing of information includes the collection, storage, updating, use, making available or destruction thereof.

MAD Leadership Foundation may process your information for the following reasons (amongst others):

o   to comply with legislative, regulatory, risk and compliance requirements (including directives, sanctions an  d rules), voluntary and involuntary codes of conduct and industry agreements or to fulfil reporting requirements and information requests;
o   to develop, test and improve our offering for you;
o   for historical, statistical and research purposes;
o   to enable MAD Leadership Foundation to deliver goods or documents or notices to you;
o   for security, identity verification and to check the accuracy of your information; and
o   to communicate with you

MAD Leadership Foundation may share your information with the following persons (amongst others) who have an obligation to keep your information secure and confidential:

o  In order to process scholarship applications, it is necessary to provide scholarship partners or potential partner with personal information of the applicant, which personal information includes, but are not necessarily limited to the applicant’s academic record and a copy of the scholar’s ID. This information is distributed to scholarship partners, usually by electronic means in the form of an email. This personal information to scholarship partners is necessary for purposes of contractual obligations. 
o   law enforcement and fraud prevention agencies and other persons tasked with the prevention and prosecution of crime;

MAD Leadership Foundation may process your information using automated means.

You have the right to request us to correct or delete any information MAD Leadership Foundation has about you if it is inaccurate, irrelevant or excessive, out of date, incomplete, misleading, obtained unlawfully or no longer authorised to be kept.

You may object on reasonable grounds to the processing of your information. You may not object to the processing of your information if you have provided consent or legislation requires the processing. You must inform us of your objection.

You have the right to withdraw your consent which allows us to process your information, however, we will continue to process your information if permitted by law.

  1. No guarantee can be given that this application for a MAD Leadership Foundation Scholarship will be successful.
  2. MAD Leadership Foundation reserves the right to withdraw or amend any listed available scholarships without prior notification.
  3. Scholarships are offered subject to funding and availability.
  4. Scholarships are awarded by MAD Leadership Foundation, and related parties where applicable, and their decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into regarding the reasons for their final decision.
  5. MAD Leadership Foundation makes use of certain criteria to identify suitable partner schools. Any chosen school is subject to approval according to said criteria.
  6. If the applicant is successful, participation in the scholarship programme will be subject to adherence to a signed scholarship agreement.
  7. Information derived from Psychometric tests done by MAD Leadership Foundation will stay strictly confidential and the property of the Foundation.
  8. If you have not received any feedback from us by 14 August 2020, unfortunately, your application was unsuccessful.
