Walker CAD Sales Survey |
The major responsibility facing the appraisal district is the fair and accurate appraisal of properties in Walker County. The Texas Property Tax Code requires appraisal districts to appraise property at its market value as of January 1st of each year. To do this, comparable sales are used in the formulation to determine the market value of properties. The more sales information the appraisal district receives the better we can determine the market value for all property owners.
The appraised values are used by each taxing unit to establish its budget and setting the tax rate. The appraisal district does not set tax rates or send tax bills. We only appraise property at full market value as mandated by the state. The Texas Comptroller’s office audits the appraisal district to verify the property values are at 100% market value. If we do not achieve a full market value on the properties, they could reduce state funding from our schools. To ensure the accuracy of our records, please fill out the information below.
