Complete this quick survey to share info about your collaboration!

Human Impact Partners is conducting a national survey of health departments (HDs) and community power building organizations (CPBOs) to name where and what types of collaborations are happening across the United States.   This landscape assessment is generously supported by the Kresge Foundation.

WHO SHOULD COMPLETE THIS SURVEY?

*   Staff from local, state or tribal health departments who have collaborated with CPBOs
*   Staff or members from CPBOs who have collaborated with local, state or tribal HDs,
*   Individuals in adjacent organizations that know about and can help identify/flag a HD-CPBO collaboration (eg public health non-profit, academic partners, community-based service provider, philanthropy, etc).

DEFINITIONS OF CPBOs and BASE BUILDING

We define community power-building organizations (CPBO) as:

“Organizations that may be identified by geography (local, state, regional, national), demography (e.g. youth, workers, multi-racial) or issue(s) (e.g. workers rights, environmental justice, multi-issue) who conduct a range of activities including base-building.  Other terms sometimes used to describe CBPOs include but are not limited to: grassroots organizing groups, social movement groups, movement-building organizations, and … community organizing group...”  (Definition from Lead Local)

For additional clarification, visit the Lead Local Glossary for definitions of base building, community power, and more.

Importantly, some community-based organizations (CBOs) are also CPBOs, but many CBOs provide services, advocate for policies, and do other important tasks but do not do base-building.  For this survey, we are just looking for health departments collaborations with CPBOs who do base-building work.

HOW THE INFO WILL BE USED

Survey data will be used to:
*   Develop a map of HD-CPBO collaborations
*   Help identify case studies
*   Invite participants to upcoming power building convenings and events.

If your organization does not want to be included on this map, please check off the appropriate question in the survey.    If you have a question about this survey or would like additional info about power-building partnerships, please email  megan@humanimpact.org or visit HIP's Power-building Partnerships for Health website.
