The National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation have partnered with the Virginia Commission for the Arts to support Poetry Out Loud, a contest that encourages high school students to learn poetry through recitation and memorization.

The Poetry Out Loud program is designed to take place in schools during the fall of 2017.  By registering, a school is conveying their intent to participate in the program.  All schools must hold their in-school competitions by Friday, December 8, 2017 and submit a Final Report by December 8th indicating the student/s who will advance to the regional competition as well as data related to POL participation in their school.

Regional competitions will be held in January and February of 2018.
The state finals will take place Monday, March 12, 2018 at WCVE in Richmond, VA.
