Introduction

With climate change and/or extreme weather events quickly becoming one of the biggest environmental hurdles of our age, the questions of how we, as water and wastewater professionals, plan for and adapt to the realities of a changing climate are at the forefront. The goal of this survey is to gather information on how water and wastewater utilities and/or government organizations are planning for impacts such as sea level rise, including system redundancy and resiliency to more extreme weather events. Your responses will be summarized to understand trends in approaches, innovative solutions, and associated challenges with climate change adaptation for water and wastewater systems in the Northwest.

The PNCWA Sustainability committee has kept the issue of climate change in the forefront at the PNCWA annual conferences since 2012. With support from PNCWA, the findings from this survey will be presented at the 2016 PNCWA Conference under the paper titled “What do you do when the levee breaks?: Planning for climate change and sea level rise”.

This survey should take approximately 5-7 minutes to complete. Thank you for participating.
