United Way of New York City is asking for your help in understanding the retail industry from the perspective of employers that want to build a talented pipeline of entry-level and work ready employees.

In New York City, retail comprises of a significant density of jobs – many of which offer career opportunities. Our goal is to understand the dynamic between front line workers, their opportunities for advancement, and where the skills gaps lie. In order to do this, we are asking you to take 5 – 10 minutes to complete the following survey. The survey, coupled with economic research, will help United Way of New York City better understand your needs, and in turn, develop programming and policy that can help your firm recruit and retain better qualified talent.

While many organizations are involved in preparing jobseekers for work, they often do so with little input from private sector businesses. Our work hopes to help inform a wider audience of the true needs and expectations of employers including those that train and ready workers for careers.
