What is a Cultural Arts Master Plan?

Through research and input from the community, our Cultural Arts Master Plan will examine our existing arts, culture, and historic resources, as well as actions needed to enhance these resources. The Plan will develop recommendations on how we can build Danville’s identity and create a path towards becoming a regional destination for arts and culture.

What’s Included?

The Cultural Plan will be exceptionally collaborative and examine the needs and desires of residents from all across the City.

The Plan will:

Evaluate existing arts resources in Danville and the surrounding region and provide recommendations for continual evaluation of these resources.
Provide recommendations for public art, arts facilities, and broad arts and culture programming.
Include well-defined steps and processes to make Danville a City with a notable presence of the arts.

The plan will advance cultural diversity, increase opportunities to create and consume culture, and provide vibrant remarkable experiences for all residents and visitors.

Project Timeline

Phase 1: Preplanning and Discovery with a Steering Committee and Stakeholder interviews

January - March 2023

Phase 2: Community Dialogue and Engagement through Focus groups, public survey, site visit

March - August 2023

Phase 3: Synthesize Ideas and Define Strategy

September 2023

Phase 4: Draft Plan Development and Review

October 2023

Phase 5: Final Review and Recommendation
