What is a MapMission?
A MapMission is a people-driven event hosted with AccessNow that allows participants to map accessibility features in their local areas by using the AccessNow App. It is a way to increase awareness about accessibility through lived experience while contributing new information for individuals who need to know about the accessibility of a place before visiting.
How can I participate?
Virtual MapMission On-boarding: join on March 17th at 11:00 am to learn about accessibility and how to use the AccessNow app.
In-Person Event: will take place on March 24th from 2:00 to 4:00pm at the Woodstock Economic Development Office. Individuals will gather to map places in the area with the help of AccessNow team members.
Virtual Reflection Session: gather on April 14th at 11:00am to share insights and learnings.
Online MapMission: for individuals who cannot attend the in-person event you can participate and add reviews for various businesses and public spaces at you own leisure from March 24th until May 1st. We will send you a code to use on the app so we know your reviews are part of the MapMission!
Please Note: Our MapMission will take us through various outdoor public spaces and along city sidewalks. While we prioritize planning step-free and barrier-free routes, the nature of outdoor environments means we may encounter unexpected barriers or uneven terrain. There will be folks on-site to navigate these spaces alongside you. If you have any specific access needs or questions about the route, please let us know so we can ensure you have a great experience.
