You are invited to be in a research study looking at Community views and interactions with the Delhi Village Police Department (DVPD). You are being invited to participate because you are a member of the Delhi community and you may have had interactions with or have thoughts about the DVPD. We ask that you read this form and ask any questions you may have before agreeing to be in the study.
This study is being conducted by: The Village of Delhi Police Reform Committee
The purpose of this study is to better understand the relationship between the Delhi community and its police department. We hope that the results of this study will help to inform (the Police Reform board for the Village of Delhi in order to make recommendations for policy and reform and to develop future community engagement opportunities.)
If you agree to be in this study, you will be asked to answer a set of survey questions about your views of the DVPD in regard to community involvement, safety, procedural justice, performance, contact satisfaction, diversity, and demographics. This online survey should take no more than 20 minutes of your time, and this is the only thing you will be asked to do (no secondary participation is required).
Risks and Benefits of Being in the Study:
There are no major risks involved with your participation in this study.
While there are no direct benefits of participating in this study, the data we collect from you will be used to help build a strong relationship between the Delhi community and the DVPD, which could be a big benefit for everyone in the Delhi community.
If you are uncomfortable answering any question, you can leave it blank, or stop your participation in the study. Your participation is also completely voluntary and anonymous (see more on this below).
The records of this study will be kept private. No personal or identifying information will be collected, and the online survey will not track your email or IP address, meaning that your responses are anonymous and cannot be linked back to you in any way. Any report we might publish will not include any information that will make it possible to identify a subject. Research records will be stored securely and only researchers will have access to the records.
All information obtained in this study is strictly confidential unless disclosure is required by law. In addition, the IRB (The Institutional Review Board), the sponsor of the study, and College or government officials responsible for monitoring this study may inspect these records.
Voluntary Nature of the Study:
Participation in this study is completely voluntary. Your decision whether or not to participate will not affect your current or future relations with the Village of Delhi or the DVPD. If you decide to participate, you are free to skip any question or withdraw at any time without affecting those relationships.
