Greater Victoria LIP Immigrant Advisory Table Application Form |
Overview
The Greater Victoria Local Immigration Partnership (GVLIP) invites interested newcomer and established immigrants from the Greater Victoria region to join our Immigrant Advisory Table (IAT). The IAT will play a key role in the development of an immigration settlement strategy for our region.
The Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria (ICA) has received funding from the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) to lead the Local Immigration Partnership (LIP) initiative in Greater Victoria. This initiative will bring together immigrants, community members, organizations, businesses and government to work together to create an immigrant settlement strategy for the region.
If you are an immigrant who lives in the Greater Victoria region and is passionate about building a welcoming and inclusive community in Victoria- We want you! If you are someone who brings passion and experience in community building and helping others understand the issues faced by newcomers in Canada- We want you!
As a member of the Immigrant Advisory Table (IAT) you will:
* assist in the development of an immigration settlement strategy
* provide feedback and perspectives that represent the diverse newcomer communities in the Greater Victoria region
* commit to participate in IAT meetings held 4 to 6 times a year starting in Sept/15 until March/16
* champion the LIP vision in our community to create a welcoming and inclusive region
* ensure LIP priorities are relevant to newcomers in the region
* work with other committed and passionate community members, organizations and businesses who are part the LIP Council and IAT
There are a limited number seats on the Immigrant Advisory Table, so not all applicants will be accepted. Priority will be given to ensure there is diverse representation on the IAT. However, we will keep all applications on file for review when additional seats on the IAT become available.
Please complete and submit the online application form by the new extended deadline of Friday October 9th at 5pm.

Thank you for your interest in helping to build a more welcoming and inclusive community!
