2026 PING Student Application

Thank you for your interest in PING: Exploring the Cosmos, July 19 - 26, 2026 hosted by Green Bank Observatory. All current 8th graders are welcome to apply.

Students will be immersed, on location, in the research activities of this national research facility. Students will work in small teams supported by an undergraduate student mentor and an Observatory staff scientist (astronomer, physicist, engineer, etc.) to conduct research by observing the universe with a 40-foot diameter radio telescope. Supplemental educational activities including bench experiences complement the primary research theme. In addition, educational seminars and fun whole group activities like games and outdoor recreation will be incorporated to achieve a fulfilling and valuable camp experience.
