Consent

The purpose of this study is to better understand law enforcement officers’ characteristics and behaviors that contribute to interactions with community members. You will respond to a number of statements about police characteristics and behaviors and rate the extent of importance of each one in contributing to citizen police interactions. It is expected that the study will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.

In observance of ethical principles related to human participation in research please note the following: 

1.      All of the information you provide during the study will be held in the strictest confidence and your identity will remain completely anonymous.

2.      Results of this study will be analyzed only at the group level to further insure privacy.

3.      Participation in this study is completely voluntary and should create no more stress for you than your typical daily activities.

4.      Should you feel distressed at any point during the study you are free to discontinue your participation without penalty.

5.      As a benefit of your participation you will be provided with information that you may find relevant in your work or academic endeavors.
