You are being invited to complete the Nursing Ethical Leadership: Experience and Frequency of Ethical Issues during a Pandemic and Beyond survey. You were selected to participate in this study because you are currently a member of the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL).
Why are we doing this research study?
Nurse leaders play a critical role in endorsing and upholding ethics in healthcare environments and may encounter unique ethical challenges. You are being asked to complete the following survey to help inform efforts to increase knowledge of the unique ethical challenges nurse leaders face and inform ethical resources and training for nurse leaders. Your participation in this survey is greatly appreciated.

The purpose of this survey is to:
1. complete a national-level, comprehensive analysis of the ethical issues faced by nurse leaders, nurse leaders’ access to and use of ethics resources, and the impacts of COVID-19 on the ethical issues nurse leaders face and the ethics resources they use.
2. inform the ethical development of nurse leaders both during the current COVID-19 pandemic and in the future.

What will I be asked to do and how much time will it take?
If you agree to take part in this study, you will be asked to complete an online survey that includes both individual and institutional demographic information and 6 survey questions. This survey will ask about the ethical issues you encounter in your role as a nurse leader, the frequency you encounter those issues, and the ethics resources you have available and use. The survey will take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.

Will being in this research study help me in any way?
Participation in this study may not benefit you personally; however, you may benefit the larger community of nurse leaders by providing data that may inform ethics interventions and support for nurse leaders.

Who will have access to my data and answers?
Only members of the research team will have access to your data. We may share our findings in publications or presentations. If we do, the results will be reported in a group format with no identifying information linkable to specific survey answers. Therefore, you will not be identified personally. If you agree to optional follow-up and we use any quote by you in any publication or presentation, we will use a pseudonym (fake name) and no identifying
information.
