What is an Energy Fair?

After teaching energy content, each school will use their knowledge gains, student work samples, and existing hands-on energy activities to host an Energy Fair or community event where students become the teachers. Energy fairs can be filled with student-created exhibits, demonstrations, and activities, as well as community member exhibits, additional school content, and more! Schools should aim to invite students, parents, community leaders, public officials, and/or school board members to attend.  Get creative and use an event within your school’s calendar, offer food or door prizes, seek donations from community members, or whatever strikes your fancy! Share pictures and promote your event using the hashtag #pecoconnect and #pecopeep on social media. PEEP will support applicant events by providing an Energy Fair in A Box Kit and small cash grant.

Applicants are invited to apply on a rolling basis. The PEEP team expects to notify applicants within two weeks of application, and will ship fair materials upon establishing communication with applicant. Applicants can begin fair planning and execution as soon as they are accepted. Schools will receive an Energy Fair in a Box Kit and a cash grant of $150 to help host their event.
