Student Application

In partnership with Florida A&M University and the US Department of Education, the Program of Excellence in STEM will be offering our 1st Annual Virtual STEM Summit, to take place online on August 6-7, 2020.


​This exciting opportunity is for high school students (9th graders - graduating 12th graders) AND their parents and/or guardians, to learn more about STEM careers, participate in exciting and engaging hands-on learning activities, compete in team-building and collaborative learning challenges, and compete for prizes and other awards.  Students will also hear from leading researchers, professionals and scholars throughout the STEM world, and will be mentored by FAMU STEM student scholars.  This will be an opportunity like no other!
 
Sessions will be running during the following times:
  • Thur. Aug. 6 - 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. (break for lunch; 15 min breaks in morning and afternoon)
  • Fri. Aug. 7 - 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (15 min break in morning session)
  • * A formal agenda will be forwarded after registration is complete.

Participation in this event is the beginning of the 2020-2021 PE-STEM Academic Enrichment Series, which consists of monthly workshops during the Fall and Spring semesters, as well as field trips and tours of research labs, corporations, attractions, and other engaging STEM-related locations.  Participants will also receive the following:
  • Backpacks
  • T-shirts and other FAMU paraphernalia
  • Other prizes and gifts

NOTE:  PARTICIPATION IN ALL SESSIONS OF THE VIRTUAL STEM SUMMIT IS REQUIRED FOR SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE PROGRAM.

​The cost of the Virtual STEM Summit is $40, and this cost also covers the Fall and Spring Academic Enrichment Series participation.  If you are interested in a career in STEM and in learning more about STEM at FAMU, you cannot afford to pass this opportunity up.
