Light a Fire 2022 Award Nominations

Please let us know whom to shine a light on this year!

All year round, nonprofits from all over our city and state work hard to make this a better place. And once a year, we get to honor them via our annual Light a Fire awards, in which one of the winners receives special advertising support from Portland Monthly to continue their important work.

View the award categories below. You can submit a nomination for anyone you think is deserving—including yourself or your own group. (While you can make only one nomination at a time, you are welcome to submit multiple nominations for more than one category.) The winners will be chosen by an independent panel of experts.

Awarded to a nonprofit pushing for gender equity

Best New Nonprofit
Awarded to an organization incorporated after January 1, 2020

Caring for the Planet
Awarded to an organization working in the fields of sustainability, conservation, or natural resources protection

Most with the Least
Awarded to an organization effecting significant change with minimal resources and fewer than five paid staff members

Giving Shelter
Awarded to an organization helping the houseless

Keeping Us Healthy
Awarded to an organization that helps us take care of ourselves—mentally or physically

Extraordinary Volunteer
Awarded to a person whose volunteered time and services spur noteworthy change in the nonprofit community

Extraordinary Executive Director
Awarded to the chief executive officer of a nonprofit whose work transforms their organization and the larger community

Young Leader
Awarded to a person under 30 years of age working to make significant change in their community

Lifetime Achievement
Awarded to a person who shows tireless commitment to the nonprofit community over a lifetime of service
