This survey is connected to a larger effort with the Great Lakes Bay Region STEM Impact Initiative sponsored by the Great Lakes Bay Regional Alliance (GLBRA). The purpose of this survey is to identify and understand how parents perceive STEM education and opportunities in the Great Lakes Bay Region (Bay, Gratiot, Isabella, Midland and Saginaw Counties

For the purposes of this survey, “STEM” means curricula and programs (in school and out) that are focused on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Likewise, a STEM job requires the application of knowledge across the areas of science, technology, engineering, and/or mathematics, and demands higher order critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

A STEM job:
• Often requires a post-secondary degree, industry certification/ licensure, and/or advanced training;
• Requires higher level cognitive skills;
• Links to career pathways with increased earning potential; and
• Provides opportunities for advancement and continuous learning in STEM and non-STEM fields.
