A. GP must have excellent diagnosis and treatment skills:
- Has sound technical skills, is highly competent and knowledgeable using evidence based practice
- Ability to remain calm and proficient under pressure and still make clear and timely decisions.
B. GP is readily available and easy to contact:
- A good GP has regular office hours and clear, consistent guidelines for getting medical advice and help during nights and over the weekend. The GP, or a representative returns phone calls promptly.
C. GP is caring, sincere and empathetic:
- Always shows a warm, attentive manner.
- Understands and respects patients' culture, beliefs, religion and ethnicity and acts accordingly
D. GP has strong Interpersonal skills:
- Takes time to listen and communicate honestly and effectively with patients, relatives and carers
E. GP is well respected with a good reputation:
- Patients receive excellent treatment and leave with a positive experience.
