The Town of Cutler Bay is applying to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity for a Federal Fiscal Year 2018 Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). The Town is eligible to apply for up to $750,000 in the neighborhood revitalization, commercial revitalization and housing rehabilitation categories. Construction activities funded through the CDBG Program provide benefit to low and moderate income persons; prevent or eliminate slum or blight; AND/OR meet a need of recent origin having a particular urgency (i.e. natural disaster recovery).

On Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at 6:00 pm, the Town held the first public hearing to discuss potentially eligible projects.  The Town is now asking you to help decide which of the following three (3) projects to submit for funding.  Please respond by Friday, April 12, 2019.

Drainage Improvement: Cutler Ridge Section 3:  The goal of this project is to reduce flooding and improve pedestrian safety in the residential community near Gulfstream Elementary School.  The Town will install approximately 2,400 linear feet of new drainage within the general boundaries of:  Montego Bay Drive from Anchor Road to Coral Sea Road, and Nicaragua Drive from Coral Sea Road to Anchor Road.

Community Facilities at Franjo Park:  The goal of this project is to restore the community room, concession stand, and restroom facilities at Franjo Park.  The community room will increase the Town’s capacity to provide residents with a location for ongoing activities for older adults, after-school care, summer camps, and special events.  The building structures, ramps and fixtures will be restored to meet current ADA requirements and include "green" building elements.

Home Repair Assistance for Low-Income Households:  The goal of this project is to provide financial assistance to homeowners that meet income eligibility requirements with home repairs and improvements (i.e. code compliance, ADA improvements).  Priority is given to the most vulnerable populations of low-income residents (i.e. older adults, households with individuals with special needs, households with homeowners earning less than or equal to 80 percent Area Median Incomes).
