Apply to be on the HOPE Board and work on solutions to homelessness. 

WHAT: The Home, Opportunity, Planning, and Equity (HOPE) Advisory Board gives feedback to the City of Corvallis and Benton County about housing, homelessness, and equitable opportunities in our community. HOPE Board members attend a monthly meeting and make recommendations to the City and County. Members can also choose to do research and engage the community.  (HOPE website is here, the HOPE Bylaws are here.)

WHEN: The HOPE Board accepts applications anytime. There are openings at various times throughout the year. 

TIME COMMITMENT: HOPE Board members need to make time for these things:

1)      Board meeting. Attending a 2-hour meeting each month. The HOPE Board meets the 4th Wednesday of every month from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.  Meetings are virtual now but may be in-person in the future.

2)      Emails. Reading emails that may take about 30 minutes to one hour of time per month to read through. 

3)      Work groups (optional). Sometimes a 1-hour work group meeting happens per month for members who choose to participate.

4)      Term. Board members can serve a 2-year term We understand life is complicated, so attendance has flexibility. Members can choose to be on the board for three 2-year terms.

OTHER INFO: The HOPE Board wants to include people from anywhere in Benton County who know firsthand what it feels like to be homeless or worried about housing. The HOPE Board also wants to include our LGBTQ+ community members and people who are Black, Indigenous, or from any community of color.
