Greater Shepparton City Council's Emergency Management and Resilience Department is seeking expressions of interest from community members living with disability, carers, support people, and disability agencies to participate in the Person-Centred Emergency Preparedness (P-CEP) Online Certificate Short Course.
This training is provided free of charge thanks to funding from the Australian and Victorian Governments.
About the Course
The P-CEP Certificate Short Course enables people with disabilities and their support networks to create personalised, actionable emergency preparedness plans.
In 2023, the course won the National Resilient Australia Award.
Structure: 6 self-paced, online modules accessed over a 5-week period.
Format: Participants will read, watch, listen, and reflect on learning through practical activity-based discussions.
Community: Learners can join the P-CEP Connect Learning Community to help translate their knowledge into practice.
Leadership: The course is led by Associate Professor Michelle Villeneuve and her team at the University of Sydney’s Centre for Disability Research and Policy.
Who Should Apply?
People with disability and carers who want to advance their own emergency plans.
Service providers in aged care, housing, homelessness, and youth services.
Disability representatives and advocates engaged in self, individual, or systemic advocacy.
Emergency services staff and volunteers who work with the community to manage risk.
Community engagement and emergency management staff, as well as community resilience and disaster recovery workers.
