ABSTRACT SUBMISSION FORM
Call for Abstracts
Administrators, Clinicians, Faculty, Researchers, and Scholars interested in speaking or presenting at the Nurse Diversity Council of the PA Action Coalition Biannual Conference: “Pennsylvania’s Healthcare Mosaic: Achieving Excellence in Care for All” on June 26th, 2018 are warmly invited to submit a conference abstract. Abstracts are being accepted until Wednesday, January 31st, 2018 (abstracts should not exceed 250 words).
Abstract categories include:
Equity and inclusion
Discrimination and racism
Social determinants of health
Health outcomes among vulnerable populations
Submitted abstracts will be considered for the following sessions:
Ignite- A series of speedy presentations. Presenters get 20 slides, which automatically advance every 15 seconds. The result is a fast and fun presentation which lasts just 5 minutes.
Panel- A selected group of panelists who share differing perspectives in front of a large audience.
Podium- A podium session is designed to permit the author to orally present and explain the objectives, methods, results and conclusions of his/her research or evidence based practice that has been implemented with measurable outcomes.

Symposium- A session in which several speakers discuss their research and/or evidence based practice before an audience. Can submit individually.
Poster- A presentation of research or evidence based practice, in the form of a paper poster that conference participants may view.

Conference Objectives:
Upon completion of the conference, participants will be able to:
1. Describe equity, inclusion, and cultural competency as key to mitigating health disparities and improving health outcomes.
2. Discuss the concepts of racism and discrimination and how they impact population health.
3. Summarize the current state of the science on social determinants of health as opportunities for shaping policy and improving health outcomes.
4. Outline strategies to advance diversity and inclusivity initiatives within academic, practice and research settings.
CV/Biosketch will need to be uploaded and Conflict of Interest Form will need to be completed and uploaded.
Continuing Education will be offered to participants.
Abstract Requirements (250 word limit):
The body of the abstract must include a brief description of the project or program with;
1. Background
2. Aims or Purpose
3. Method/Design
4. Findings
5. Conclusions
6. Implication(s) for policy or practice
Note: Sources of funding or support for the project or program detailed in the abstract must be disclosed. All authors listed on the abstract must disclose information that may indicate potential conflict of interest (i.e., financial agreements, organization affiliations) with the topic of the abstract.
Individuals are allowed to submit only ONE abstract as the PRIMARY AUTHOR. Do not use capital letters in the abstract title and do not bold or italicize any of the text in the abstract.
