Invitation to the Education Community

Outdoors Victoria warmly invites contributions from schools to the Learning Outdoors Case Studies Project.

Outdoors Victoria, on behalf of the Department of Education and Training, are seeking exemplar case studies across school sectors and year levels that showcase how Learning Outdoors can be used to deliver the Victorian Curriculum F-10 and the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF).

This project aims to:

  • showcase a range of Learning Outdoors approaches that are being delivered across school sectors
  • support teachers to better understand Learning Outdoors, allowing them to plan engaging, contemporary learning programs.

Learning Outdoors has gained widespread attention from schools, academia and the mainstream media as a leading approach to teaching and learning.

Benefits of Learning Outdoors include:

  • provision of an innovate approach to design and delivery of curriculum
  • engaging students in meaningful learning opportunities that promote interdisciplinary connections and the development of personal and social capabilities
  • developing critical and creative thinking skills
  • promoting lifelong learning
  • building students’ resilience
  • engaging students in non-competitive and inclusive physical activities
  • developing strong connections between communities of students and teachers working toward a common goal
  • promoting a connection to place and environment
  • encouraging students to connect with nature.

If your school, or another school you know, is happy to share a Learning Outdoors experience we want to hear from you!
