BASIC INFORMATION

Welcome to the 2020 DOLA Land Use and Planning Capacity Survey (LUPCS).
The LUPCS is administered every five years to take the pulse of planning trends and needs across the state. Now that 2020 has concluded, we hope to capture data about changes in planning practice since 2015. DOLA uses this information to inform funding decisions and to its direct services. Additionally, DOLA uses these survey results to communicate with legislators and other leaders looking for policy solutions, and planners often use these results to aid in their research.
This time, we’re taking a two-step approach. The first step, the survey, will collect very general information to assess overall trends and needs, resulting in a final report of the survey findings. The second step will include follow up with responding communities to discuss their needs and learn more about their replicable strategies we can share in best practice reports.
