Volunteer Survey

Thank you for your interest in the Freeport Community Backpack Program!

What: The Freeport Community BackPack Program will provide children in our community, who have food insecurity over the weekend, easy to take home, bags of food each Friday throughout the school year.

Who: A BackPack Committee is focusing on fundraising, communications and implementation. We have partnerships with Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program (MCHPP) and Good Shepherd Food Bank to purchase food at a discounted bulk price, and with Freeport Community Services who will accept donations on our behalf and provide secure food storage space.

Where: The food will be picked up at MCHPP in Brunswick, packed and stored at FCS, and delivered to the RSU5 schools each Friday. Note: Durham Community School (K-8) already has a BackPack program in place through MCHPP. This will continue in its current form.

When: The BackPack program will begin in September and continue throughout the 2017-2018 school year, except during vacation weeks.

How you can help: Volunteers are needed to pick-up, sort, pack and deliver the food. Your help will be greatly appreciated!

Please complete this brief survey which allows us to gather contact information and interest from potential volunteers. Please note that we are hoping to get enough volunteers who would rotate throughout the year. We will contact you later this spring as we move forward with a schedule. Thank you for your interest in the BackPack Program!!
