BC Food & Beverage (BCFB), in collaboration with industry partners and stakeholders, is exploring the feasibility of the Pacific Gateway Food Terminal (PGFT or Food Terminal), a potential regional food terminal based in Metro Vancouver to support BC’s food and agriculture sectors. As we assess the need and viability of an investment of this scale, we want to hear directly from the businesses and organizations it could potentially serve.
The Idea
The Food Terminal is being explored as a shared hub serving the broader food supply chain. Potential functions could include cold and frozen storage, aggregation and distribution, food processing and packing, logistics, and import/export support. The goal would be to make it easier and more cost-effective to move BC food to local, Canadian and international markets. The specific services and operating model have not been determined — that is where your input is important.
Why We Need Your Input
This survey is intended to understand where the current food system works, where gaps exist, and what would make the greatest difference to your organization. Your feedback will help identify and prioritize industry needs, assess where a regional food terminal could add value without duplicating existing services, and inform the next stage of feasibility work.
Who Should Respond
We are seeking input from producers, processors, seafood companies, wholesalers and distributors, exporters, independent retailers, foodservice operators and other organizations across the food supply chain. You do not need any previous knowledge of the project — your day-to-day experience is what matters.
The survey takes approximately 10-15 minutes and closes on October 21, 2026.
Responses will be kept confidential and reported only in aggregate. Please feel free to forward the survey to others whose perspectives should be included.
Thank you for your time and input.
