Call for Grant Writers
Technical assistance and grant writing support are high-priority needs for rural entities across rural Texas. In response to this need, Texas Rural Funders has built a roster of qualified grant writers to assist rural jurisdictions in applying for and securing federal, state, and private funding.

This Request for Qualifications is not a guarantee of work. If selected, your name and contact information will be included on a roster of grant writers and circulated widely throughout Texas. Individual jurisdictions may use this list to reach out to you, and each organization will handle its own outreach, contracting, and payment processes.

Desired Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of grant writing experience, working with public bodies and/or nonprofits
- Demonstrated experience working with rural communities
- Past experience writing and securing federal grants
- Past experience prospecting for state and federal funding
- Experience with Grants.gov or state funding portals
- Strong writing, research, communication, and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and consistently meet deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Fundraising Services
Requested Activities may include:
- Matching potential projects with funding sources
- Assessing the competitiveness of a potential project
- Assisting with new program development or expansion
- Working with clients to create a program/project sustainability plan if needed
- Working with agency staff to identify measurable objectives for inclusion in the grant evaluation plan
- Developing budgets
- Obtaining guidelines for grant submission
- Drafting and securing letters of support
- Completing and submitting all forms required by funding source
- Writing grants
- Securing necessary signatures
- Submitting required copies of grant, budget, and enclosures to funding source
- Grant administration, management, and reporting
- Campaign development and implementation
Timeline & Attachments
This is a rolling Request for Qualifications. Applications will be reviewed on the first business day of each month. Selected applicants will be notified within two weeks of review. For consideration, complete the form below, including the upload of a minimum of two successful federal grant application samples.Applications are reviewed against the required and preferred qualifications before being added to the roster.
