Pollution Prevention Program Pause

Since 1986, the Washtenaw County Pollution Prevention Regulation has required local businesses that store or use toxic, hazardous, or polluting substances to handle these materials safely, to report annually to the Washtenaw County Health Department, and to be inspected if the facility exceeds a certain volume of material.

At the March 2, 2022 Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners meeting, the Washtenaw County Pollution Prevention Regulation was paused for a period of up to 2 years (until potentially March 4, 2024). During this pause, businesses are not required to submit status sheet updates, reports, or fees to the Washtenaw County Health Department. Instead, we encourage you to use this time to consider updates to the program from your perspective.

This survey should take about 10 minutes to complete and is meant to be an opportunity for our regulated businesses and their employees to share what aspects of the program they feel are important and provide us with feedback as we work together to update and improve the Pollution Prevention Program. This survey is anonymous. However, if the respondent would like to connect with us further to assess the program and provide additional feedback, there is an opportunity at the end of the survey to include respondent contact information.
