An opportunity for CTC young adults to travel to the Holy Land

Traveling to the Holy Land is a unique opportunity in the life of any believer. Scripture comes alive in a new and vibrant way as you journey with others in the land of our spiritual ancestors. Praying in Gethsemane, walking the shores of Galilee, remembering your baptism in the Jordan River...these are just a few of the many sacred spaces and places that pilgrims will have the opportunity to visit.

A group of clergy and laity from the Central Texas Conference will travel together to the Holy Land January 20-29, 2020. This experience is organized by Educational Opportunities (www.eo.travel), and the featured teachers will be Bishop Lowry and Rev. David Alexander. The total cost per person is $3500 plus incidental expenses (i.e. baggage fees, lunches). However,  as part of our ongoing effort to invest in the spiritual growth and leadership development of young clergy and lay leaders within our annual conference, we are offering scholarships to assist selected young clergy and other young adults with the cost of this pilgrimage. A selected number of young adults will be able to participate in this experience for only $1500, plus incidental expenses!!!

To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must meet the following criteria:
1) Be between the ages of 20-29 in January 2020;
2) Be actively involved in a CTC local church or campus ministry OR a seminary student with local church membership in the CTC;
3) Submit a completed application, including all recommendations, by no later than September 15, 2019;

The following persons are especially encouraged to apply:
1) Clergy and other staff persons serving ministries in the Central Texas conference;
2) Seminary students and/or candidates for ministry;

Applicants will be notified of all decisions by Monday, September 30, 2019. If selected to receive scholarship support, recipients must register and submit the remaining balance for the pilgrimage ($1,500) to Educational Opportunities by Wednesday, November 6. Failure to pay the remaining balance by November 6 will result in a forfeiture of the scholarship. Recipients will also be expected to participate in two gatherings with others selected - one before and one after the experience (these dates have not been determined).

If you have any questions about this opportunity, please contact Rev. Paul Massingill, the Coordinator of Campus Ministry & Emerging Leaders. He can be reached at PaulMassingill@ctcumc.org.
