People who love to eat are the best people.
2019 is a milestone year for the Otto’s brand, as we open our second location in order to meet demand. We take with us to our new location, the second instalment of Otto’s Continental Deli – providores of the finest meats, local and international cheeses and antipasto this side of Europe.
At Otto’s Continental Deli, our focus is on showcasing produce from Australia and around the globe. We are proud of what we have been able to deliver to our local, cheese-loving community, and because they come to us in droves to get their gourmet fix, we have an opportunity for a like-minded gourmand to get their slice of the action in the role of Deli Assistant.
About the role:
As a Deli Assistant, you will be focused on providing exceptional customer service to our guests. Your customers shop with all their senses. With their satisfaction at the forefront of your mind, you will inspire and delight them through presentation, stock management and knowledge.
Reporting to the Delicatessen Manager, you will have the opportunity to make an impact and use your creative flair to showcase our products, and even create new ones. You will play a key role in our energetic collective of food and beverage enthusiasts, all who are driven by a desire to serve their clientele, and serve them well.
This is a role suited to a chef looking for a career change, a gourmet sales specialist, or a genuine lover of food with experience in a high-end food retail environment that wants to explore a new career while continuously learning about premium local and international products.
About you:
You are a master in the anatomy of a cheese board. Your experience and vast knowledge of the culinary sphere is coupled with the ability to work under pressure, in a fast-paced environment. You are a keen foodie with excellent cookery skills, and love nothing more than to share these skills with those around you.
Your interpersonal skills are second-to-none and you excel when it comes to listening to questions and finding answers. You love providing advice and knowledge to those who are a little unsure when it comes to their selections, and are always willing to help your customer nail that perfect pairing. You have a genuine curiosity for European foods and flavours, with a desire to learn the ins and outs as you go. A refined eye for detail, unharnessed creativity and a genuine love of customer service are among your best traits.
Finally, you are in possession of a Food Handler’s Certificate and a current driver’s licence, with full availability to work weekdays, weekends and evenings as required.
Due to the large volume of applications expected, only short-listed candidates will be contacted. ‘Wow’ us with your experience in a brief CV and cover letter to guarantee a response.
