How many applications do you need to maximize your likelihood of matching in orthopedic surgery?

Over the past 4 years, Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University has prospectively collected data on 4th year medical students applying to orthopedic surgery residency programs. A recursive partitioning algorithm was performed using this data to determine the expected number of interview offers per total applications based on step one scores, AOA status and research for this cohort. A link to this data will be provided to you once you complete the survey below. We are only gathering your data so that we can expand our dataset for future applicants. It will not be used in any fashion in the residency application process and you will not be contacted for further followup until after match day. It is recognized from NRMP's Charting Outcomes in the Match: https://www.nrmp.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Charting-Outcomes-US-Allopathic-Seniors-2016.pdf that an applicant's likelihood of matching plateaus around roughly 12 interviews. We hope that you will be able to use our data in order to make an evidence-based estimate of the number of applications necessary for you to maximize your likelihood of matching into an orthopedic surgery residency program.
