Structures of Care for Critically Ill Patients with Cancer

Background: Patients with malignancies are frequently presenting with critical illness requiring ICU care. While we are trying to understand the optimal management approach to this particularly complex population, the structure, resources and processes of care of these patients may vary significantly from center to center, and are possibly associated with outcome.

Purpose of Research: To identify and describe variations in intensive care unit (ICU) structure, staffing, and processes of care for critically ill adult patients with malignancies. If you take care of adult patients who have malignancies in your ICU, we are interested in your participation in this survey to better understand your ICU's management of critically ill patients with malignancies.

We aim to determine whether variation exists and the extent to which it may be present. We hope that this study can lay the foundation for future studies evaluating the association between structure and outcome and eventually help to establish guidelines in this complex population.

Participation is voluntary and completing the survey implies consent to participate in the study.

This survey should take less than 15 minutes.
