NC AWWA-WEA is a volunteer association operating jointly under one board as a section of both the American Water Works Association and a Member Association of the Water Environment Federation. Use the links below to learn more about AWWA and WEF goals and objectives.
In NC, in addition to the efforts of our parent organizations, we focus on supporting our clean water industry professionals and on protecting the water resources of our state. To accomplish our work, NC AWWA-WEA has over 40 internal groups (committees, subcommittees, ad hocs, taskforces) that work to accomplish our strategic goals. Each one of these internal groups has an assigned charge or focus area that seeks to further the mission and vision of NC AWWA-WEA.
As the NC AWWA-WEA Board of Trustees went through the process of updating the Strategic Plan in 2019, we realized that we needed a way focus the energies of our members and volunteers to accomplish our goals. Hence, we developed the concept of a “One Water Initiative” (OWI). The OWI is intended to harness and focus the power of our entire organization towards a unifying concept or theme that impacts the water industry and our organization internally and externally.

The NC AWWA-WEA Board of Trustees has appointed an Ad Hoc One Water Initiative Committee which has already begun working on branding concepts and an implementation process. To reinforce the concept that this is a unifying theme, the OWI Committee feels that it is important to engage our members and industry professionals in this process. As we work toward a fully realized One Water Initiative concept and implementation, we will be engaging our membership to ensure the outcome of this vision is something we are proud of and can support.
