Overview

The American Academy of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery Foundation (AAO–HNSF) invites you to submit an abstract for consideration to present at the Simulation Showcase, held during the 2024 AAO–HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO Experience in Miami Beach, Florida. This meeting is the premier event for the otolaryngologist–head and neck surgery community to share practical and comprehensive knowledge that will advance the specialty, worldwide.

We invite you to submit an abstract for consideration, to demonstrate your current simulator and/or simulation activities during this year’s Simulation Showcase event. Successful abstract submissions will include the following:

  • An innovative and creative approach to the development, validation or study of a simulator, simulation, or simulation-based curriculum;
  • Demonstrate the successful usage of the simulator model or simulation activity with proven demonstrative results and its replicability throughout the specialty; and
  • Describe the simulator model or activity’s relevance to advance training and practice in the field of otolaryngology.

Provide a brief, concise description that will explain the focus, purpose (goals), and significance of your abstract. Successful abstract submissions will involve the development, validation or study of a simulator, simulation, or simulation-based curriculum. Describe the successful usage of the simulator model or simulation activity as well as its relevance to the practice of otolaryngology.
CHARACTER LIMIT: 1,600 characters.

* 5. LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Objectives focus participants’ attention on the expected behavioral outcomes from the presentation. You should state clearly and succinctly what attendees should be able to learn and, if interested, practice upon completion of the presentation. Begin each statement with a verb (i.e., analyze, compare, demonstrate, examine, explain, implement, interpret, recognize, etc.). If selected, your learning objectives will be published online. Please note, the learning objectives are different from the description/goals of your presentation.

For each learning objective submitted, complete the sentence, ‘Upon completion, participants will be able to…’ Use action words to begin this learning objective (e.g., list, describe, define, demonstrate, conduct, etc.). CHARACTER LIMIT: 200 characters per objective, provide at least two.
