PLEASE NOTE - DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING ADOPTION APPLICATIONS FROM OUTSIDE OF QUEENSLAND. All dogs must be collected by the adopting families, from Toowoomba or Brisbane. Transport cannot be arranged by Off The Chain K9 Rescue Qld due to shortage of staff at this time.

We also want to ensure, that while now may be a fantastic time to add to your family due to everyone being home- that you understand your responsibility to also train your new pet to be able to be his own company at times. It is inappropriate to have the pet inside 24/7 for the next few weeks, and then suddenly left in the yard alone when life returns to normal. You must think ahead, and implement training to ensure it is a smooth transition and that the dog spends increasing amounts of time outside/wherever it will be when the family is away from the home. Please do not apply unless you have looked into this and how to accomplish it, as we do endeavour to ensure ALL adoptions are permanent and not just for the holidays/until there is a change in lifestyle.

We appreciate your understanding and commitment to responsible ownership.

Please complete the following survey as thoroughly and truthfully as you can. Only applicants who have completed this survey and been approved may meet our animals. If you do not complete your application in full, or do not send your required yard/shelter photos within 12hrs of applying, your application may not be processed.

At the end of this survey you will be asked to provide photos of your current fencing and sheltered areas. PLEASE NOTE this is not required if you are adopting a cat from us, as the expectation is that the cat will remain in your home while not supervised. Remember we are looking for a yard that will keep the dog happy, not a palace! We look for order and a relaxed environment, nothing too clean, nothing too dirty.

If the dog will sleep outside please also show us any existing covered areas you may have which might be a good place for a bed/kennel. Outside areas showing shelter from bad weather etc are also important to include, even if your dog will sleep inside at night. Again please note this is for dogs/puppies only, not cats.

Once you submit your application an OTC member will endeavour to respond within 48hrs - however if you do not hear back from us please feel free to contact us for an update. Contact is generally via email or text. Please remember we are all volunteers and sometimes we get swamped with rescue work :) you are always welcome to follow up with us however we do ask for patience. Contact details for follow ups:
