Introduction

Together with OSSE, Professional Management Consulting Services (“PMCS”) is initiating a school discipline and school climate analysis project. You should have received a letter from OSSE this summer describing this project and your role in the project. If you did not receive the OSSE letter and would like to receive a copy, please reach out to Dr. Troy Shine at Troy.Shine@dc.gov.

The discipline and school climate project involves talking to schools about their discipline policies and practices they use to promote positive student behavior. This project has two main parts for schools. In the first part, we will be asking some questions about how you collect and store your disciplinary data including behavioral intervention data. In the second part, we will be working with schools to learn about the innovative ways in which schools work with students to promote positive behavior and any successes or challenges you may face. For interested schools, we will also be holding focus groups with schools to get a more in-depth view by hearing directly from students, school staff and parents.

This survey focuses on how you collect and store behavioral data at your school. We are asking that schools complete this survey by September 20, 2019. If you have any questions about the survey or if you need more time to complete the survey, please reach out to your PMCS contact.

Based on our initial contact with your LEA or school, we believe that you are the best person to respond to these questions. If you are not able to answer these questions, please send an email to LaShelle Franklin at lfranklin@pmcsllc.com with the name and contact information of best person at your LEA or school to talk to about how you collect and store your discipline data and we will reach out to them right away.

Thank you for your time and have a great day!
