Thank you for your interest in applying to be a member of the Ocean Optics XXVI Planning Committee which will take place in Fall 2024. New committee members will be selected with the goal of achieving geographic balance as well as career stage balance. The committee will be composed of approximately 12 members, including the co-chairs. A minimum of three current Planning Committee members will continue to serve through the 2024 conference. Responsibilities of Planning Committee members include selecting plenary speakers, inviting exhibitors and sponsors, and suggesting short courses and other events. Additional responsibilities include reviewing, ranking, and scheduling abstracts submitted for oral presentation and chairing one session during the conference. Community members who completed their final degree in 2022 or earlier are welcome to apply. The planning committee meets for approximately two days in Spring 2023 (possibly in person) as well as two days in June 2024 (in person). Planning Committee members are expected to support their own travel to the planning meetings and to the conference. However, financial support may be available for Early Career Professionals and for applicants from underrepresented or low- or lower-middle-income economies as defined by the World Bank.
Abstracts submitted by planning committee members will be assigned as poster presentations for the 2024 conference.
