Disciples in Mission: Creating a Three-Year Pastoral Plan for Our Lady of Sorrows , Sharon (OLOS)

To ensure the parish continues to serve the needs of parishioners, a parishioner-led team is developing a three-year plan.  The plan will guide us on how to best use the resources and energy of the parish.   While Our Lady of Sorrows is spiritually and fiscally strong, it is important to understand what matters to you. Help shape our parish plan.

Lay participation has always been critical to OLOS’s identity. It is even more important today. Tell us what is working. Tell us what you care about. If you are in any way a part of our community, even if you’re not a registered parishioner, we need to hear from you. We encourage everyone from high school and up to participate, one survey per person.

As part of the process of developing the plan we will be holding focus groups to explore themes that emerge through this survey. If  you would like to participate in a focus group, please reach out to anyone on the Pastoral Plan Writing Team or leave your name at the rectory.  You also have the option of providing your name and contact information at the end of the survey.

Surveys need to be submitted by October 21st.

Thank you for taking the time to be heard and for caring about Our Lady of Sorrows.

OLOS Vision Statement

Our Lady of Sorrows is the Roman Catholic parish in Sharon, Massachusetts, a town that is predominantly Jewish and includes 7 churches and an Islamic Center. A significant number of our parishioners are members of inter-religious families.

We embrace the challenges, opportunities and responsibilities that the unique religious composition of Sharon presents.

We proclaim the presence of the Risen Lord who gathers us as a worshipping community and sends us forth to love and to serve.

We pursue open and constructive dialogue as we strive to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ through life-long learning and faith formation.

We practice and promote social justice that affirms the dignity of every human being, and rejects all forms of discrimination as contrary to God’s intent.

We welcome, value and support the contributions of people from all walks of life and backgrounds as we celebrate and explore our Catholic faith.
