Training Options & Registration Fee Policy

The Ohio Center for Substitute Teachers (OCST) offers two formats for training substitute teachers, a one-day session and an online option. Both formats include evidence-based practices with a focus on skills training in lieu of education theory.

Our goal is to professionalize substitute teaching and we believe that with the right set of tools, all substitute teachers can meet or exceed expectations of school district staff and students. We look forward to working with all participants in developing successful substitute teaching skills.

Premium Package (One-Day Session):
The registration fee of $100.00 includes a Substitute Teacher Resource Manual; handouts and resources; light refreshments; an OCST Certificate; and, a one-time repeat of class for free at a future date. (Please bring a brown bag lunch).

Online Training Package:
The registration fee of $50.00 includes a study guide for downloading; a self-guided course to complete at your own pace; sub assessment (requirement of 85% composite score); and, the OCST Certificate.

Our policy regarding payment for professional development requires that the registration fee must be paid in the form of a check or money order made payable to Pickaway County ESC. The deadline for payment is typically one week prior to the selected session date.

Payment by credit card is not available at this time.

Cancellation Policy:
A participant may reschedule one time with a notice given at least (3) working days prior to the session. Notice of cancellation must be received at least three (3) working days prior to the session in order to receive a refund. No on-site registration or payment is accepted.
