Presented by:   Kevin Silver, D.O. specializes in interventional pain management and osteopathic manipulative medicine. He provides testing and treatment for patients with musculoskeletal dysfunction and neurologic disorders. Dr. Silver earned a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from the University of Arkansas. He earned his medical degree at West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg and completed an internship at Detroit Medical Center in Michigan. He completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Michigan State University in East Lansing.  Prior to moving to Tupelo, he served as assistant professor in Virginia Commonwealth University Spine Center’s Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation. He is with North MS Physical Medicine & Rehab. 


Target Audience:
This activity is intended for internal medicine, family medicine and primary care physicians and advance practice clinicians.

Learner outcome(s):

1)  Self-report knowledge gain and an intent to utilize evidence-based guidelines / accepted practice in the prescribing of medications with an emphasis on controlled substances. 

2)  Self-report knowledge gain of important pathophysiology concepts common to the care of patients using pharmaceuticals, describe the pharmacology of common medications, select the proper pharmacotherapeutics based on clinical presentation and incorporate evidence-based changes into practice.

This activity consists of an educational component (slides, audio lecture) in an electronic format, followed by an online post-test and participant self-reflection / declaration of learning.  Estimated time to complete this activity, including review of materials is one hour.
