1. Scholarship Information

Overview
If you’re a student in a degree program (high school or beyond) you can apply for a scholarship to cover some or all of your expenses of attending Objectivist Summer Conference 2017. Scholarships up to $1500 will be awarded based on merit and travel distance. If you do not receive a scholarship and cannot attend, we will refund your registration fee.

Scholarships will be evaluated on a rolling basis, and funds will be issued around the time of the conference.

Scholarship Application Steps
1. First register for the conference as a student at aynrand.org/OCON2017, and take note of your registration confirmation number. You'll need to enter it in your scholarship application.

2. Fill out this application form in its entirety. Allow at least 30 minutes to complete the form, which must be completed in one sitting and includes long answer questions near the end. As is not possible to save a partially completed form, we recommend you review this PDF of the application and prepare your answers before beginning the electronic application. Only electronic submissions will be considered.

3. Allow up to three weeks for us to contact you. We may request a Skype interview with you as part of the application review process.

Scholarship Eligibility and Restrictions
1. You must be a current student in a degree program (includes those graduating in the 2016-2017 school year, and those entering a degree program in fall 2017).

2. Scholarship recipients are required to attend the conference for the duration of time they committed to when applying, and to travel to the conference from the location indicated on their application. ARI must be notified of any changes to the recipient's availability or travel schedule, and may adjust the amount of the scholarship accordingly.

3. Scholarship recipients must attend all educational programming at OCON, and may be required to attend certain sessions on the conference program.

4. Those who are under 18 must have written parental permission to participate in the student program and to be eligible for a scholarship. Permissions should be sent to clubs@aynrand.org.

5. Scholarship applicants may be contacted for an interview.

6. Scholarship recipients are responsible for their own lodging and travel arrangements.

7. Students who do not apply for or are not granted a scholarship may still participate in student sessions and activities.

8. Students who do not receive a scholarship and cannot attend the conference will be refunded their registration fee.
