Introduction

Ocean Beach
Coastal Hazard Risk Management and Adaptation Plan
and 10-year Concept Plan

The Shire of Denmark is currently undertaking a Coastal Hazard Risk Management and Adaptation Plan (CHRMAP) for Ocean Beach and Peaceful Bay. The CHRMAP will be used to develop 10-year Concept Plans for the beach and foreshore at both sites.

The purpose of the CHRMAP is to identify coastal erosion hazards at the most valued portions of the Ocean Beach and Peaceful Bay coastlines The CHRMAP will put in place controls to manage and mitigate the risk from the coastal hazards. As part of this process, Concept Plans will also be developed which outline the 10-year vision, aspirations and priorities for both sites, and will take into account the identified coastal hazards and any adaptation planning required.

In order to develop the CHRMAP and Concept Plans, we need input from as many users of the beach and foreshore at Ocean Beach and Peaceful Bay as possible. We want to know what you value most about the areas, your vision for future use over the next ten years, current issues and expectations for managing the impacts of coastal hazards.

This survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete and will provide valuable feedback that will be carefully considered by the Shire’s community project working group. This survey has been specifically developed for Ocean Beach. There is a separate survey available for Peaceful Bay.

Further information about the CHRMAP and concept plans can be found on the Shire of Denmark's website http://www.denmark.wa.gov.au/residents/sustainability-the-natural-environment/ocean-beach-and-peaceful-bay-coast-plan-and-concept-plan.aspx.

Thank you for your participation - I look forward to hearing your ideas and suggestions as we develop a plan for the future of Ocean Beach and Peaceful Bay in light of a changing coastal environment.
