Introduction

Kia Kite ai te Ora COVID-19 life-changing research project is a Lived Experience view from those who have experienced COVID-19. This survey seeks to quantify the extent Ngāti Maniapoto Iwi members experienced COVID-19 and the impact of COVID-19 on Iwi members from March 2021 - March 2023. This survey will be open from early April 2023 till November 2023, but some changes may occur.

This research is being undertaken by the Kia Kite ai te Ora COVID-19 Life-Changing research team, which is hosted by Ngāti Maniapoto Marae PACT Trust. The Ngāti Maniapoto Marae PACT Trust, Te Nehenehenui, Taumarunui Kōkiri Trust, Te Rūnanga o Kirikiriroa, and Raukura Hauora o Tainui are also supporting this survey by promoting it on their websites and/or their social media.  

Who can complete this survey?
You have been invited to participate in this study because you are a member of the IWI (Tribe) of Ngāti Maniapoto. You will need to be 20 years of age or older to complete this survey.  

There are 37 questions in this survey (about 7 minutes to complete). Participation is voluntary, and you can withdraw at any time.   

Acknowledgement of Participation
The koha/acknowledgement of your time in completing this survey will be at the end of this survey. You will be asked for your name and contact number to enter the draw for one of eight $250 grocery vouchers.

Ethical information
Ethical approval and community consultation for the survey was sought through Te Rōpū Taumata of the Kia Kite ai te Ora COVID-19 Life-Changing project. This group is made of representatives from The Ngāti Maniapoto Marae PACT Trust, Te Nehenehenui, Taumarunui Kōkiri Trust, Te Rūnanga o Kirikiriroa, Raukura Hauora o Tainui, AUT, and Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand Waikato. 

What will happen to the information you share?
The responses you provide will be stored securely. If you provide your contact details, your identity will never be known beyond the research team involved in this project. The information you provide will be analysed and used to write a research report and possibly other publications. Your anonymity will be protected in all publications related to this project. If you would like to remove your data, please get in touch with the research team as soon as possible (KahuM@maniapoto.org.nz).
